SIWES Report Due in 48 Hours? Here Is What to Do
Your SIWES report is due in 48 hours and you have not started? Here is a simple plan to finish it on time, plus a tool that drafts the full report for you in 30 minutes.
Your supervisor just announced that reports are due Friday. It is Tuesday night. You have not opened Microsoft Word. Your logbook is half empty.
You have two options. Pick one now and stop panicking.
Option 1: Write It Yourself (8 Hours)
If you want to write the report from scratch, here is the only order that works under pressure.
Hour 1. Gather everything
Find your logbook, company name, supervisor name, matric number, and any photos from your training. If you have no photos, screenshot the company website. You need something for the appendix.
Hour 2. Set up the document
Open Word. Set A4 paper, Times New Roman 12pt, double spacing, justified text, left margin 1.5 inches for binding. Do this now so you do not waste time later fixing page numbers.
Hour 3 to 4. Chapters 1 and 2
Chapter 1 is SIWES history and objectives. Search "aims and objectives of SIWES" and write two paragraphs. Chapter 2 is your company profile. Google the company, copy their mission statement, list their departments, and draw a simple organogram in PowerPoint. Screenshot it and paste it in.
Hour 5 to 6. Chapter 3
This is where marks are won or lost. You need to describe what you did each week. Use this structure:
- Week 1: Orientation and introduction to the workplace
- Week 2 to 4: Basic tasks and observation
- Week 5 to 8: Hands-on work
- Week 9 to 12: Advanced tasks and independent work
For each period, write 3 to 4 specific bullet points. Name the exact tools you used. Instead of "I worked on the computer," write "I used Visual Studio Code to debug JavaScript errors." Instead of "I helped in the lab," write "I prepared agar plates and performed gram staining."
If you cannot remember specifics, use the standard tools for your department. Computer Science students mention HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL. Engineering students mention AutoCAD, site measurements, calibration. Science students mention spectrophotometry, titration, media preparation.
Hour 7. Chapters 4 and 5
Chapter 4: List 3 challenges (poor internet, outdated equipment, transport issues) and 3 recommendations (better supervision, updated tools, transport allowance).
Chapter 5: Three paragraphs summarizing what you learned and thanking the company.
Hour 8. Format and print
Add your table of contents. Fix page numbers. Print. Take it to a bindery. Done.
Option 2: Use the Generator (30 Minutes)
If 8 hours is not realistic because you have exams, work, or you simply cannot remember what happened in Week 7, use the MonoEd SIWES Report Generator.
Here is how it works.
Step 1. Go to siwes-report.monoed.africa. Sign in with Google.
Step 2. Fill the form. Enter your name, matric number, school, department, company name, and supervisor. In the experience box, write honestly even if it is casual. "I learned Excel and fixed routers" is enough. The AI expands it into formal academic language.
Step 3. Preview your draft. You get the title page, table of contents, abstract, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2 for free. Read it. If your name and company details look correct, move to the next step.
Step 4. Unlock the full report. This gives you Chapter 3 (your detailed training activities), Chapter 4 (conclusion and recommendations), and references. Download the DOCX file.
Step 5. Open the DOCX in Word or Google Docs. Skim Chapter 3. Edit anything that does not match your real experience. Add photos to the appendix if you have them. Save.
Step 6. Print and bind.
That is the full process. From opening the website to having a printable draft takes about 30 minutes.
Three Rules If You Are Rushing
- Do not copy someone else's report word for word. Examiners spot recycled reports instantly. Use samples as references, not copies.
- Do not skip the abstract. It is the first thing your supervisor reads. A clear abstract makes a good impression even if the rest is average.
- Do not submit without binding. Most schools require spiral or thermal binding. Check if your department wants a green or blue cover. Binding takes 30 minutes at any print shop.
Which Option Should You Pick?
If you have a complete logbook and you remember your training clearly, write it yourself. It takes 8 hours but you control every word.
If your logbook is empty, your memory is fuzzy, or you simply do not have 8 hours, use the generator. It gives you a structured draft that follows standard Nigerian university format. You edit it, personalize it, and submit.
Either way, start now. Sitting and worrying burns the 48 hours faster than writing.

FAQs
Can I write a SIWES report in one night?
Yes, if you use a generator or template. Writing from scratch in one night is possible but risky. You will make formatting mistakes and your Chapter 3 will be vague because you are too tired to think.
What is the hardest part of the report?
Chapter 3: Training Activities. It needs specific tasks, tools, and skills for each week. Most students forget what they did and write generic sentences. The generator solves this by expanding your notes into detailed activities.
Can I use a generator and still personalize the report?
Yes. You fill the form with your own details. You download a DOCX file that you can edit in Word or Google Docs. Change any paragraph, add photos, rewrite the conclusion in your own voice. The final report is personalized to your experience.
What if I do not remember what I did during training?
You do not need a perfect memory. Just list the tools you used and 3 to 4 tasks you performed. Even vague notes like "I learned Excel and helped with inventory" are enough for the AI to build a detailed Chapter 3.
What if I do not have photos for the appendix?
Include a screenshot of the company website, a photo of the building from Google Maps, or any certificate of completion. If you have nothing, include a simple organogram of the company structure. Something is better than nothing.
How many pages should the report be?
30 to 50 pages. If you are rushing, aim for 30 minimum.
What referencing style should I use?
APA 7th Edition is the most common. Confirm with your supervisor if they want Harvard or IEEE instead.
